IPSA Irish Open 2008
Dear Friends
Our association and our sport has come through a very difficult week, we have being informed by our Dept Of Justice that movement with a loaded firearm is currently under review, as is the use of metal targets. A real body blow to IPSC here in Ireland, nevertheless we have worked very hard over the last few days and avenues of communications have being opened and although we are faced with a difficult 12 to 18 months we hope that at the end of the process we will have a official acceptance of our sport. Two moments of hope over the last few days were the offer from our great friends in the UKPSA/Kells RPC club in Northern Ireland, the Kells Club offered the IPSA the use of their range / props / help etc. to host our Level 3 match, although we may not be in a position to take up this very generous offer, we were humbled that our friends in the Northern part of the Island would support us in our hour of need . Finally we received a email from a ISSF shooter expressing his support for our association and recognising the efforts we have made to promote Sport Target Shooting. From a meeting in a local hotel in 2004 with just 6 people to our current membership, and a committee that works 7 days a week to promote IPSC we have come a long way. The IPSA have made a great number of firm and sound friends throughout the World, we hope we have brought a little bit of our own sense of fun and craic to the various matches we have attended over the last few years. Going forward as is the nature of any negotiations we will not be posting any of the various details but rest assured that at the end of the process we hope to host our many friends to a Level 3 match here in Ireland. To Vince and Nick (IPSC) thank you for your support and help, to the many members of the IPSA we are working flat out on your behalf, don't despair.
Also I wish to inform you that in light of recent events and after careful consideration and discussions with our members we have decided to withdraw our application for membership to SSIA.
Yours in Sport
